O MAGNUM MYSTERIUM

SS and two alto flutes or SSAA (2005)

O Magnum Mysterium was originally written as a duet, using Arvo Pärt’s tintinnabuli technique (preserved in the two soprano parts). Another pair of voices was added in free imitation, allowing for more dramatic harmonic shifts.

It is available in two versions, one for high women’s voices with two alto flutes and one for women’s chorus SSAA. It can also be performed with vocal soloists.
